L.I.I.D - Unfolding   (1 | 2)

The implementation of a L.I.I.D. project is held in two phases:

Preparatory phase

  • Preliminary study and definition of needs. During this phase, a list of contacts and players is made, as well as of issues encountered, current practices, and of the various solutions already implemented.
  • Interviews : Interviews are run in relevant divisions and teams in order to record the experiences of the different players on the mentioned issues.
  • Technical audits : Several technical audits are run in order to assess the ability of the repository to meet the needs or to make a recommendation for the best possible solution. The audits also enable to assess possible ways of collecting missing information from various data sources.
  • Definition of dashboards: The required measures are identified, classified, and analyzed. The collection method is documented. The different aggregation levels are defined by compiling the measures. This phase is the most critical for L.I.I.D.: only an extensive experience of the issues and technology encountered combined with an in-depth knowledge of re-documentation solutions for information systems enable designing such dashboards. The specification document presents the corresponding scale models.
  • Adaptations : Depending on the contents of the dashboards, the specifications of the various adaptations to the implemented solutions will be worked out.
  • Distribution : Development of the mode and format of distribution. Distribution modes are: mail, file, paper, etc. Formats are varied: XLS, PDF, HTML, etc. The periodicity by which decision making elements are refreshed is fixed. The publication on the company's Intranet is also accounted for.
  • Technical architecture : A technical architecture is put forward after accounting for the legacy system, the adaptations, modes and formats of distribution, volumes, profit management, and confidentiality of the dashboards.

Implementation phase :

  • Implementation of the repository. Necessary adaptations and parameter definitions for the design and production of the dashboards.
  • Implementation of collectors
  • Implementation of the indicators and dashboards. Unit tests.
  • Installation of target structure , profile and confidentiality aspects in a test environment.
  • Implementation of automatic refreshing mechanisms according to the objectives decided upon during the preliminary phase.
  • Technical and functional validation in a test environment.
  •  Implementation of the production environment.
  • Technical and functional validation in a production environment.
